WARRANTY INFORMATION

Van Warranty (also known as vehicle warranty or mechanical breakdown insurance) is a guarantee provided by the vehicle manufacturer which contractually obliges them to fix any faults, mechanical breakdowns or vehicle malfunctions that may occur on your van within the warranty period.

What’s Covered?

Most van warranties cover any electrical, mechanical faults, or manufacturing defects during the term of the warranty. However, it’s important to check the terms and conditions of your policy to fully understand what your policy covers because manufacturer warranties vary from vehicle to vehicle.

As a general rule, a good warranty covers all major mechanical components including:

  • Engine
  • Transmission System
  • Fuel and ignition systems
  • Cooling system
  • Electrics
  • Gearbox

What Isn’t Covered

  • Maintenance and servicing required for operating your vehicle correctly.
  • Consumable parts (oil, fuel, AdBlue etc)
  • Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) damage due to lack of regeneration.
  • Adjustments or resets (tracking, wheel balancing, front axle, doors etc)
  • The replacement of parts that are subject to normal wear (brake pads, linings and discs, tyres, clutch, battery, drive belts, dampers, wiper blades, plugs, bulbs, dry cell batteries and fuses, ball joints, wheel bearings, textiles etc)
  • Vibration and noise linked with operation of the vehicle; deterioration such as discolouration, alteration, or distortion of parts due to normal aging.
  • Damage caused by fluids, parts or accessories that are not replaced or recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Damage caused by natural phenomena (hail, flooding, atmospheric hazards, as well as damage caused by accidents, fire or theft) or negligence caused by the user.
  • The consequences of repairs, conversions or modifications which may have been carried out on your vehicle by companies who are not approved by the manufacturer.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

When you lease a vehicle with Global Vans, you agree to run and maintain the vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines.
This includes servicing the vehicle in line with the recommended service
schedule. Your warranty may be invalid if you:

HOW LONG IS THE MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY ON A NEW VEHICLE?

The length and mileage limit of the manufacturer warranty depends on the actual manufacturer, but the basics of van warranties are the same. When your warranty period ends you can buy another warranty to protect yourself against the failure of mechanical parts, or extend the one you already have.

WHEN DOES THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY PERIOD START?

Your manufacturer warranty period starts from the vehicle registration date. This is the date your vehicle is first registered with the DVLA. This is NOT the delivery date of your vehicle. You can find out the registration date for your vehicle by checking the DVLA website.

In addition to the manufacturer’s warranty, most van manufacturers also include breakdown cover as part of their standard cover. Breakdown cover typically varies from 1 to 5-years and starts from the date of vehicle registration. Most van manufacturers offer at least 12-months roadside assistance.
