Finding the right van for you and your business is important. As the best-selling commercial vehicle in the UK the Ford Transit Custom is definitely popular, but is it the van for you…
In this article we’ll take you through the benefits of a Ford Transit Custom lease and how it compares to other medium vans on the market and how to choose the right van lease for your business.
If you’re in the market for a medium van, there are lots of options on the market. Whether you’re looking for something a bit more high-end, or just a van to get the job done, there is plenty of choice available.
While the Ford Transit Custom is the best-selling van on the market, it’s important to do your research and figure out whether it’s the right van for you.
All-new and facelifted for 2024, these medium vans are essentially identical (aside from the badges). If you’re looking for a workhorse, you won’t find better payload than the 1,400kg offered by these Stellantis medium vans. Newly improved spec and good fuel economy are also great benefits, downsides may be a less-comfortable drive and slightly lower residual value than other medium vans.
Both built by Renault, the Trafic and the Nissan Primastar are strong contenders in the section. With differences in price and spec, its important to know what’s what so you can choose the right van for your business.
Nissan Primastar: With a five-year Warranty, a choice of diesel engines and variety of lengths and heights, the Primastar is a great choice for any business. Downsides could be a smaller dealer network, and slightly lower spec offered as standard than some of its competitors.
Renault Trafic: 3 Trim Levels, great load length and a new electric version to choose from make the Trafic a solid choice for most trades. With a slightly lower payload than offered by other vans in the sector, this medium van offering from Renault may not carry the weights required for some jobs.
If you’re looking for a lifestyle vehicle as well as a van that can get the job done, the VW Transporter has become a bit of a symbol. Widely referred to as reliable, with a comfortable cab and a range of engines – the only downside of this van could be the high purchase cost (and that the new version is set to be released only next year…).
If you’re looking for high-end, you can’t go wrong with a Mercedes-Benz Vito. With the new facelift offering a sleek exterior and an upgraded interior, there is no shortage of technology as well as style. While you won’t be short of power, all new versions now offer less than 1,000kg payloads, which may prove an issue if you’re looking to carry heavy loads. There is also an argument to be had on price point, as you may be able to find a similar spec on some of its competitors but at a lower cost.
