The Mitsubishi L200 is back …and it’s not messing around

June 25th, 2026

For pick-up fans, the L200 is a familiar companion, launching in the UK 20+ years ago and stealing the scene as both a workhorse and a functional domestic vehicle.

Bigger, tougher, more refined. The Mitsubishi L200 has been revised thoughtfully, taking into consideration the years of feedback and experience from previous iterations. This seventh generation is still the familiar 4×4, four-door workhorse, but with an updated look, strengthened chassis, all-new suspension and twin-turbo 2.4l diesel engine.

What’s inside?

Built to work off-road, on site, and for domestic journeys. The rear seats aren’t just for show, fitting 3 adults without any of that awkward shoulder shuffling that makes you wonder if the extra row was an afterthought. You’re not going to get as much leg room as many SUVs offer, but for a commercial vehicle it’s a comfortable ride for your passengers.

Spec-wise, the standard trim, Titan, has plenty of creature comforts but offers more of a functional vibe with fabric seats and easy-clean vinyl flooring. As opposed to the more upmarket look of the carpeted Barbarian, complete with leather seats and LED trim on the front door interiors.

In terms of tech, you won’t be disappointed by the 9-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll also find all of the driver assist features you would expect, including the ever-useful 360 camera. Better still, drivers have hailed the return of physical buttons for A/C, 4WD, and seat adjustments. This kind of faff-free practicality is what has kept drivers loyal to the Mitsubishi L200 for the last 2 decades.

The look

It’s a beast of a pick-up. Chunky front-grill, good ground clearance and an imposing presence, the L200 is a proper workhorse. Practically, it offers wide side steps, and you’ll get roof rails as standard on the Barbarian model.

Looking at wheel trims, the Titan comes with 17” silver alloys. Or upgrade to the Barbarian for the beefy 18” black alloys.

The cargo bed has been designed to comfortably fit a Europallet. The Barbarian model even offers rear corner steps for easy loading.

What about on the road?

With a payload of over a tonne and towing capacity of 3,500kg, the L200 is built for hard work. Both models have the 204bhp engine with a solid 470 Nm of torque.

The Titan and Barbarian models have different 4×4 systems, part-time 4×4 on the Titan and the Super Select 4×4 on the Barbarian. What this actually means is, while both are solid on the road with a regular RWD set up for everyday driving, and a switch to 4WD for more challenging terrain, the Barbarian is the only model with a diff lock. So, if you’re going to regularly encounter dodgy ground, especially if you also plan on towing, the Barbarian is an much more sensible option.

Mitsubishi L200 leasing

Leasing a pick-up has been a popular option for businesses since the launch of the first Mitsubishi L200. Offering business customers the ability to spread the cost across the agreed length of the lease. With flexible finance options available, free from expensive damage charges. As a cost-efficient way to access new vehicles capable of keeping up with business, leasing is becoming the go-to option.

What about servicing and repairs? It’s a good question, considering Mitsubishi withdrew from the UK in 2021 as part of a global restructure. But it’s good news! Mitsubishi have officially returned, with over 100 aftersales centres already in place across the UK with more planned to roll out throughout the year. So you’ll be safe in the knowledge that a servicing centre is never far!
